How can international freight forwarders avoid loss of space charges during LCL export?
In the process of shipping LCL export, after 11:00 noon on the working day before the cut-off order, the cargo is not loaded on board in time due to the reason of the booker, resulting in the vacant space of the LCL company, therefore, the compensation fee charged by the LCL company to the booker for the loss of space is calculated as follows
Specific calculation formula: loss of space fee = booking billing cubic meters x (full container sea freight + full container port of departure fee)/standard cubic meters. Note: Standard cubic quantity: 25/20' 50/40' 60/40' HQ.
Common causes and preventive measures for raw loss of space charges.
1. The cargo owner's goods are late into the warehouse, or the shipowner temporarily cancels the goods and does not cancel the booking in time. Prevention: Please ask each international freight forwarder to keep communication with customers regularly before the pick-up date and give feedback in time. And inform the cargo owner that it is his responsibility to inform, otherwise it will result in loss of space charges.
2. Larger percentage of over-square/down-square/overweight. Prevention: Please ask the international freight forwarder to ask the cargo owner to book the manifest to match with the actual cargo as far as possible, if there is any change, please inform in time.
3. Cargoes are found to have problems with their characteristics or specifications after they have entered the warehouse, making it impossible to carry them, e.g. "liquid/hazardous cargo/overweight cargo". Prevention: International forwarders are requested to inform cargo owners that our company does not accept liquid, dangerous or semi-hazardous cargoes, and that overweight cargoes need to be confirmed in advance.
4. Customs inspection does not allow the goods to be exported in time. Prevention: Please ask the international freight forwarder to ask the shipper to declare the same, the same document, the same single goods, if there is any doubt, please reply clearly with our customs officer in time, if you need the cooperation of customs, please try to ensure that the goods leave the port in time, LCL goods especially refers to small ticket goods, filled with a full container (20'/40/45) of goods.
In general, the bulk cargo consolidation carriers in the container freight station or inland station respectively to solicit goods and collection, and then two or more tickets of goods into a container, the same, in the destination of the container freight station or inland station unpacking after separate shipment.
For this type of goods, the carrier to bear the boxing and unboxing operations, unboxing handling charges are still responsible for the cargo side. The carrier's responsibility for LCL cargo is basically the same as for traditional general cargo transport.
